Hi,
Hope you are doing well. This week has been hectic in terms of work, so I have not gotten around to good books so far. I was reading Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz. However, it was too similar to Magpie Murders (the previous book in the series), so I am dropping it, for now. If you have not read Horowitz, Magpie Murders is a good read. I am reading Manu Pillai’s False Allies, a lovely book on Indian princes in the British Raj. I hope to review it sometime soon on the newsletter and the blog. Also, I am interviewing Manu for this newsletter, so stay tuned for my conversation with him, which should be out in the next few editions.
I did find some interesting articles this week. They are:
How a high-powered lawyer became a TikTok superstar: meet the Korean Vegan, by Monica Eng
In this piece, we are introduced to Joanne Lee Molinaro, a very successful lawyer who breaks ranks to become a TikTok legend and explore cooking and story-telling, activities she finds meaning in. For all of us rushing to do things which are ‘prestigious’ or ‘cool’ in which we do not have our hearts, this article is something to chew on.
A guide to cold emailing, by Tucker Max
Cold emailing is an underrated skill that all of us should be taught in school and college. The internet has reduced the size of the world, but what is the point if we cannot use that opportunity to take help from the giants in our fields. People are nice, it is getting to their niceness which is hard. This article is not just abstract but gives actionable advice you can implement to improve your life.
Here is one song I have been listening to on loop this week.
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
